Digital Painting

Detroit based artist Jef Bourgeau is well-known for his "digital painting". He started with a Commodore 64 computer in 1981, creating abstract paintings using basic software. Since then, Bourgeau has digitally eaten the brains and guts of the first hundred years of abstraction - only to relieve it all back onto canvas and print in new and playful ways as he drags and drops, scans, compresses and unpacks, crashes and reboots. His art has exhibited in galleries and museums from New York to Hawaii, and from Japan to England, and is represented in important private and museum collections globally. Jef Bourgeau is represented by Robert Kidd Gallery in Michigan, and by BCB Gallery in New York.
